Why do we give to the Lord, especially to the local church that is called by His name? Simply put: We give as an act of worship.
We do not offer our money and resources out of sheer duty, nor do we give to somehow repay God for what He has done for us. We are not obligated to give because God is short on resources or dependent upon our money to do His kingdom work. God calls us to give because He has already given us everything in Christ and so that we might respond to that giving with gratitude and worship.
In 2 Corinthians 8-9, Paul encourages the believers to be generous toward other churches and believers in need. It was not an issue over a specific amount, but over a specific heart. We give out of love of God and others. This is the essence of the gospel . It is because of "the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you by His poverty may become rich" (2 Cor. 8:9). We give generously and graciously because "God loves a cheerful giver" (2 Cor. 9:7).
If God is leading you to give to Redeeming Grace Church, let it be from a heart of worship, a heart motivated and empowered by the gospel, cheerfully, and generously. We appreciate your sacrifice and commit to using every bit given to advance the kingdom of God through the gospel, for the praise and glory of Christ.
